    Default PROJECT II

O.k. lets start developing these characters,we'll start with m&m's character.

an artist that sits in front of the downtown library each day from daylight to twilight and sketches what he sees...the work force, tourists, nature, etc. he is also observing the predators.
lets make him more tangible.maybe a little bit of a back story and some details as far as looks, what he's wearing, how tall is he etc.Does he talk to people?Or just sit quietly sketching away?where does he go after dark?Tackle some of these, and come up with some other stuffs.
    kthx.

he is older man, retired from the air force. he was a pow in vietnam...has many issues with violence and killing. tall and very agile and though maybe in his mid-fifties, still has the strength and stamina as he did at half his age. he lives alone, except for the stray cats he's acquired through the years and a bird that has finally learned to say "who's yer daddy?". he lives in an apartment over a hardware store a few blocks from the library and walks to and from there each day with his art materials in hand.

his wife and children were victims of the 9/11 meltdown...another reason for his reclusive ways. he is very friendly with the folks who speak to him and is always willing to do a sketch of a stranger, and never accepts when they offer to pay. when people ask about his past, he never speaks about being in the armed forces, but states that he's always been an artist.

occasionally, when he smells the storms coming, he uses chalk and sketches on the sidewalk and those are disturbing, even to him. he does it as he knows the rain will soon take it all away and will be gone when he returns the next morning.

He is an artist "in his own mind" only.

The "sketches" that he does all day are nothing but childish scribbles that only he (and his mother) percieve to be artistic renderings. He thinks he is capturing "the scene in front of him", but really all he draws is the jumbled mess of confusion in his own soul.

He is, in a sense, delusional. But he is to be a sympathetic character, not just an object of pity or ridicule.

His delusionary state- and his current cirumstance in life (the weird guy who sits and scribbles all day)- can be traced back to his childhood traumas. His mother was bi-polar, and when she wasn't showering him with affection and accolades- she was despondent and paranoid. Our Artist didn't have many social experiences growing up as his mothers sickness made her home-school and shelter him.

He basically grew up as the fat kid, who didn't think he was fat, because his mother always told him how beautiful he was. But he wasn't fat, just a really bad wanna-be artist. His mother seemed to try and make up for her own deficiencies and depressions by propping her son up with unrealilstic and unattainable goals. .... .... He was always a little strange, but it wasn't until his mothers death that he became "Sketch Man".

he wears a torn and tattered cloth around his leather hide. a coat of many colors lellow green on either side. he moves with some uncertainty as if he doesn't know, just what he is there for or where he ought to go. once he reached for something golden hanging from a tree, and his hand came down empty.
