I'm thinking he's like 17 and stuck living with his mother's ex boyfriend,who is an abusive alcoholic guy,but somehow got custody of him when his mom died a few years back.he stopped going to school and goes into town every day instead ,where he hangs out by the library,trying to figure his shit out.

I'm thinking that, much like his mother, he is anti-social, delusional, and simply non-functional in the real world. She would never have a boyfriend (in fact Sketchy was the product of a rape. "Dad" could be a whole chapter). Sketchy was 19 when Mom died and he simply inhereted her Social Security Disability and her trailer. He lives alone, and hangs out at the library to do the only thing he knows: sketching.
