ok, tried running AVG on it. wont even start. nothing will run. ctrl alt delete wont even pop up the task manager. whatever u tried to do, it says the file is infected

format the hard drive? if that gets done what remains on the hard drive afterwards?

format reinstall is always the easy option out. You could try checking your host file and see if it has you redirecting back to yourself.
C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ should be named hosts.txt. If it has you pointing to 127.0.0.1 for all websites then this is why you can't get out. You can read more about it here Hosts file - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also try booting in safe mode with networking and see if you can access the internet. Also, try running AVG or spybot to see if it will actually start then.

99.9% do that because it's in your registry and it's some obscure file, but if you can keep a session active in safemode and run AVG, spybot, etc and at least see if it can detect the problem then you can google the virus, whatever, and get step by steps.

However, dieoff does always seem to have an issue with his computer, whether browser or other, and I just think there is no hope.

i have no problem reformatting this if thats what it takes.... the last comp before this was jacked because someone else took too many liberalities with it.

this comp never had an AV program on it, had it for almost a year, it worked fine till like a week ago. to much logging in out of email and forums/accounts unprotected caught up with it i suppose
